Our Story

Why We Started

Dealing with the challenges of today requires compassionate problem-solvers — individuals who bring diverse perspectives, take risks, and make meaningful sacrifices for the well-being of others.

We Support Caregivers, Inc. was born out of one daughter’s unwavering faith and lifelong commitment to caring for her mother.

Our CEO and Founder, LaSheena Renée McBride, began her caregiving journey at just 19 years old. At the time, she had never heard the term caregiver. She simply knew her mother needed care, and she stepped into that role without hesitation, training, or a roadmap.

For more than a decade, LaSheena lovingly cared for her mother, Gladys Elizabeth Jones McBride, whose health declined due to chronic kidney disease that progressed to chronic kidney failure. Her chronic kidney disease was caused by long term complications of type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, both of which significantly impacted her overall health. In addition to kidney disease, her mother also lived with congestive heart failure, requiring extensive medical care and continuous monitoring.

When her mother began dialysis, LaSheena attended every dialysis treatment by her side. This experience gave her firsthand insight into the physical demands, emotional strain, and daily sacrifices associated with kidney failure and long term caregiving. Hours spent in dialysis centers, navigating treatment plans, and advocating within the healthcare system exposed her to the realities caregivers face every day.

Each stage of her mother’s illness brought new responsibilities that tested LaSheena physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Throughout this journey, her faith remained her foundation, sustaining her through moments of uncertainty, exhaustion, and grief.

These lived experiences led LaSheena to pursue a career in healthcare and ultimately inspired the creation of We Support Caregivers, Inc. The organization was founded to ensure caregivers feel seen, supported, educated, and empowered to prioritize intentional self care without guilt.

Today, We Support Caregivers, Inc. stands as a testament to LaSheena’s journey and her mother’s legacy, dedicated to uplifting caregivers through faith based support, education, advocacy, and a commitment to caring for the caregiver.
